What do you feel when anger builds up inside of you? Adrenaline begins to build up, your body becomes tense, facial expressions change, and you feel a rush of emotion building. As you try and hold it back, until you lose the battle and you reach your so-called breaking point. You want to lash out either verbally or physically. Both of these forms of lashing out can quickly escalate into domestic violence. You want to hurt the person you are feeling the anger towards. This anger may not even be associated with the person you are confronting. It may have arisen from pent up anger inside of you that you’ve been holding in-from something that happened earlier that day, or weeks or months ago, or just an overall feeling of frustration with life in general. Before you know it, words are said or even worse, physical confrontation has occurred that you cannot take back. You can’t hit the delete button, or ask for a do-over. Next week we will look at things that can be done to control this anger and prevent something occurring that you will regret for the rest of your life.
