What is domestic violence? So many people believe someone has to hit or have a physical encounter with you to be in a domestic violence relationship. The reality is that there are many forms of domestic violence. Although physical violence can be seenon the outside with bruises or broken bones, emotional and mental abuse can last so much longer, and those scares and experiences can last for years and will probably need counseling. There is also domestic violence of financial security. There are manythat do not feel they have a penny to their name because their partner is in total control of the finances. There is animal cruelty, work abuse and elderly abuse.

Reach Out Speak Out specifically works with domestic violence of those in our faith-based community having to do with physical, mental and emotional abuse.

Why do we only work within the faith-based community? There is a need. We are grateful for the non-profit organizations in our area such as The Spring, CASA, Sunrise, etc. They are full to capacity. So, Reach Out Speak Out has a heart for those that may be afraid to leave or even tell someone they are in a domestic violence relationship because their significant other is sitting right next to them at their place of worship, and everything looks fine.
