I was brought up in such a family; my mother was a chronic alcoholic and my father was a chronic codependent, enabler. Asa child I learned early on how to relate in unhealthy ways; thus, causing me to become codependent. I became a “fixer” along with my father in attempting (unsuccessfully) to “cure” my mother’s alcoholism. I also lacked the ability to have healthy boundaries as an adult and took the dysfunction at a whole new level in my own family. As stated previously, I was perpetuating a cycle of dysfunction in my own life. However, there is good news!
